POLICE investigating an armed raid at a home with a mother and baby inside have arrested two men.

A 34-year-old man and a 48-year-old man both from Southampton have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary. They are currently in custody being quizzed by detectives.

The Daily Echo reported how the armed raid happened last Wednesday morning at a house in Testwood Lane, Totton.

A 35-year-old mum, who was looking after an 11-month old baby, answered the door to two men wearing fluorescent jackets. Police said the men who had a handgun pushed past the woman and searched the home taking £2,000 and a mobile phone. No shots were fired and the child was unharmed but the woman was cut on the mouth.

Detectives said they would like to thank members of the community for coming forward with information.

An investigation is continuing into the incident and people with any information who have not spoken to the police are urged to contact Southampton Central Police Station on 101 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
