THERE are just days to go until the end of analogue broadcasting in Hampshire.

In the early hours of March 7, BBC2 will be permanently switched off as Digital TV is rolled out across the region.

The second stage of the switchover will take place on March 21 and will see the remaining analogue channels turned off for good.

The move will see analogue signals replaced with new digital services.

Residents are being warned that if they don’t prepare their sets in time for the switchover they could face a blank screen when they tune in to their favourite TV programmes.

Virtually any TV, including black and white sets, can be converted using a digital box, available in most electrical stores for as little as £20.

For those struggling with the set-up process, Digital UK, the independent body in charge of the process, is setting up special advice points across the region.

People with concerns about making the switch will be able to find out more information, try out the retuning kit and discuss any worries they may have.

Bill Taylor, Digital UK regional manager, said: “The roadshows have been put on to help people who are struggling with the switchover process.

“Staff will be on hand to answer any questions and to show how the equipment works.

“So far we have found that most people have managed to switch over without any problems and for some it has really opened their eyes to modern technology.”
