PRAYERS were said this weekend for the family of a three-year-old girl killed in a road accident.
Billie King was crossing Hamble Lane with family members in Bursledon when she was hit by a motorbike.
On Sunday, prayers were said at nearby St Paul’s Church and St Leonard’s Church for the youngster and her heartbroken family.
In a statement the family described Billie as their “beautiful little princess” and thanked the community for their kindness and support.
The vicar of Bursledon parish, Peter Vargeson, said: “We had some silence, a chance to reflect and prayers for the family at a very tough time.
“It has touched the whole community. It’s just immensely sad and it’s a shock. In this sort of situation, people tend to come and sit quietly in the church during the week – and people can come in at any time to do that.”
A carpet of flowers, cards and toys has been left at the scene of the accident, which happened at about 7pm on Thursday.
The motorcyclist involved, a 38-year-old man from Eastleigh, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to call Sgt Andy Lynch at the Eastleigh Road Death Investigation Team on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
