IT was the iconic flat cap worn by his grandad – footballing legend Alan Ball.

Now almost five years since his death, Jimmy Allan poignantly raised the same trademark hat to the sky to make sure his grandad would know of his latest trophy.

Eight-year-old Jimmy, a pupil at Hiltingbury Junior School, beat off scores of other acts to win the Chandler’s Ford’s Got Talent competition.

Jimmy, who also plays football for Eastleigh Academy with his brother Mack, scooped the top prize by wowing judges with his street dancing skills.

Mum Keely, 40, said: “When Jimmy won we were all screaming and going mad – Dad would have been so proud.”

Five years ago World Cup hero Alan Ball, who both played and managed Southampton Football Club, suffered a fatal heart attack aged 61 while fighting a bonfire that was burning out of control at his home in Warsash.

His wife Lesley died from cancer three years earlier, leaving behind children Keely, Mandy and Jimmy.

Keely said: “Losing Mum and Dad has changed all of our lives. It is moments like these you know Dad would have been there on the sidelines cheering the grandchildren on.”
