A WOMAN was injured in a car crash near Winchester this morning.

The 24-year-old was driving her blue Ford Fiesta on the A272 towards Petersfield at around 2am when she collided with a deer.

The vehicle swerved off the road into a field near Cheesefoot Head and the driver, from Bramdean, near Alresford, sustained head injuries.

However, she remained conscious and called an ambulance which took her to Royal Hampshire County Hospital. Her injuries were not life-threatening.

The car remains in the field but is expected to be removed shortly. It is unknown what happened to the deer but it is thought to have died.
