THIEVES have stolen a £40,000 speed camera from one of Hampshire’s busiest roads.
Police believe the Truvelo camera was cut away from its post on the southbound A36 near Whinwhistle Road at Wellow, with a disc cutter.
Sergeant Rik Grant, from the roads policing unit based at Totton, said: “If a disc cutter was used it would have generated a lot of noise, so I’d like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious.”
The camera was taken between Wednesday, March 28 and Friday, March 30.
Anyone with information should contact Sgt Grant at Totton police station on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
