DETECTIVES investigating the murder of a Southampton crane driver whose body was found in his burning car say they are following up “a number of leads”.

Officers from the major crime department are continuing to probe the death of Agim Hoxha, pictured, 29, of Cranbury Place, whose body was discovered in the early hours of April 10 in a burning silver Mercedes car he owned.

Police believe the keen footballer was already dead before the car was set alight, in Chilworth Drove, Chilworth.

Forensic work is still continuing around a grey Ford Mondeo Zetec TDCI which also belonged to him that was located following an appeal for help in finding it.

Officers say they are following up a number of lines of inquiry but would still like help tracing the Mercedes’ movements in the days before Mr Hoxha’s murder.

Police are continuing to appeal for anyone with information about Mr Hoxha’s death to contact the Operation Wedgewood investigation team.
