SAINTS star Adam Lallana is involved in an off-the-pitch battle – just days after helping his club secure their return to the Premiership.

The 23-year-old midfielder, who scored one of the four goals against Coventry, has angered his neighbours by submitting plans to enlarge his luxury clifftop home. Lallana wants to build a single-storey extension to the front of the house and a two-storey wing with balcony at the back.

People living nearby say the floor to ceiling windows included in the scheme will “severely impede” on their living conditions and destroy their privacy.

Christchurch Borough Council rejected the scheme after receiving 14 letters of objection. Lallana has lodged an appeal but his neighbours are hoping a Government-appointed planning inspector will back the protesters and uphold the council’s decision.

One said: “The two-storey extension to the rear will cause the next door property to suffer loss of privacy and outlook. The sheer mass of the west elevation will block out the sunlight.”

Another objector claimed the extension would result in an unacceptable loss of privacy.
