A Southampton man drove the wrong way down a busy dual carriageway while more than twice over the drink-drive limit.
Andrius Steinas was spotted by police travelling the wrong way down Millbrook Road West in the city, and was stopped in a garage forecourt.
But the 26-year-old was found laying on the back seat of the car and initially denied being the man behind the wheel.
Prosecutor Sital Mond told Southampton Magistrates’ Court that Steinas, of Stafford Road, Shirley, was caught in the early hours of March 26.
The court heard Steinas, who admitted driving with excess alcohol, was more than twice the drink-drive limit.
Steinas told the court he was “deeply sorry”.
He was banned from driving for 20 months and ordered to pay a £300 fine.
