Churches hit in conman's scam
HAMPSHIRE churches have been targeted by a conman claiming to need money to return home to Jersey.
A number of churches in the Winchester area have been visited by the conman claiming that a parent has died and he must get home to identify the body.
Other churches have been phoned by people claiming to be a retired hospital chaplain, also from Jersey.
The fraudster is described as aged 40-50, about 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in, with short, dark hair and of slim build.
