A MAN was still being questioned by detectives last night on suspicion of raping a 55-year-old woman walking in the New Forest.
The victim was out walking in Ashurst on Sunday morning when her attacker pounced around 9am.
The woman managed to call 999 on her mobile phone once the terrifying ordeal was over. Following a full search of the area the man was arrested on suspicion of rape.
Police are still appealing for anyone who was in the area and saw anything suspicious to come forward. Witnesses should contact Southampton CID on 101.
