THOUSANDS of pounds worth of motorbikes have been stolen from a Southampton home.

Trial bikes, including two that had been built for children, were taken from an address in Hinkler Road, Thornhill.

In all four of the specialised bikes were taken from the home where the family are enthusiasts of the sport and compete regularly. The theft means the children aged six and eight are not able to participate.

Police are urging anyone who knows about the thefts to get in touch as they believe they would be difficult to sell on as they are distinctive in colour and design.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Gavin Shirley at Bitterne police station on 101.
