TWO men had to be rescued after their kayak capsized in the Solent.
The alarm was raised by someone on shore dialing 999 after spotting the men waving a paddle about two miles off Gurnard.
Cowes RNLI lifeboat crew had just returned to station at Shepards Wharf Marina after four hours of sea training when Solent Coastguards called them out.
The two kayakers, who by then were clinging to another RIB, were hauled out of the water by the lifeboat crew.
After ensuring they were none the worse for their ordeal they were landed at Gurnard Sailing Club.
The lifeboat responding to the incident yesterday at about 1.15 pm was helmed by Richard O'Callaghan.
