A Southampton woman last night remained seriously ill in hospital, three days after a tragic cliff fall that claimed her husband’s life.
Lorraine Scurr, 65, is being treated by doctors in intensive care at Southampton General Hospital, after being airlifted to the mainland from Jersey, where the accident happened on Monday.
As reported, her husband Peter Scurr, 69, was pronounced dead at the scene after falling 40 feet on to the concrete roof of a German war tunnel when he lost his footing on a narrow path.
Mrs Scurr, a retired nurse who is a well-known pastoral committee member for the Catholic Church in the Southampton East area, initially clung to vegetation and screamed for help, but lost her grip and also fell down the steep cliff.
Jersey police said she had suffered serious, multiple injuries.
The couple, from Vespasian Road, Bitterne Manor, were in Jersey for a long weekend to mark their 45th wedding anniversary.
