POLICE are growing increasingly concerned for the safety of a Hampshire man who has not been seen since for more than a week.

Ben Hilton, 33, of Sopwith Road, Eastleigh, had attended a wedding reception at the Roebuck pub in Winchester on Friday June 8.

Afterwards he was then seen by a friend to board a train at Winchester railway station at 9.16pm.

It has since been established that Mr Hilton arrived at Portsmouth Harbour railway station the same evening where he was seen on CCTV getting off a train at. He was alone.

Mr Hilton was then seen on the staff side of the Wightlink catamaran jetty at Portsmouth Harbour at 10.18pm.

Detective Inspector Dave Morgan said: “That evening, June 8 was the date of the opening match in the Euro 2012 football tournament.

“We know that there were some fishermen on the pontoon of the Gosport Ferry in Portsmouth Harbour at the time of the last confirmed sighting of Ben. We’d like to hear from these men.

“We have also had an unconfirmed sighting of Ben close to his home address on Sunday 10 June. If you saw him on that date, or since 9pm on Friday 8 June we want to hear from you.”

He added: “We are keeping an open mind as to what has happened to Ben, but we urgently want to hear from anyone who has seen him or who has been in touch with him.”

Mr Hilton is white, 6ft 1in and of medium build. He has short wavy brown hair, blue eyes and wears thin metal rimmed glasses.

He was wearing a blue shirt which was open at the neck, with a t-shirt underneath the shirt, dark trousers and shoes.
