A fire started deliberately in a tree spread to an electricity pole in Fair Oak last night.
Witnesses say they saw two youth start the blaze, but they ran away as the flames spread.
Eastleigh fire crew rushed to the blaze in Witt Road at 11.30pm, and found the wire on the electricity pole had come loose and was bouncing around in the road and on nearby cars.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze and cordoned off the area until the electricity board could attend.
It is understood the fire caused a power cut to street lights in the area, but homes were unaffected.
