Sailor rescued
A LIFEBOAT was sent to the aid of a young sailor whose becalmed sailing dinghy was in danger of drifting into the Solent’s main shipping lane.
The Cowes RNLI crew were called by Solent Coastguard to help the young man when his boat was stranded near to Bourne Gap Buoy, between Calshot and Beaulieu River, on Wednesday evening.
The lifeboat crew arranged for the boat to be towed back to Gurnard Sailing Club on the Isle of Wight by the club’s safety boat.
