BACK in 1907 two world wars were yet to happen, no one had heard of television and Southampton resident Fred Flack was born.
Despite his advanced years, the 105-year-old, a resident of Northlands House Nursing Home, could pass for someone 20 years younger.
Staff at the home in Westrow Road sang Happy Birthday and presented the sprightly Mr Flack with a cake on his birthday.
Mariana Hrisimova, manager of the home, said: “He is a lovely man, always cheerful.
“Yes, he is sprightly.
We cannot believe he is 105 – I think he is 85!”
She added that he is their first resident to reach the milestone.
Mr Flack, who used to be a keen reader, received his sixth card from the Queen congratulating him on his age.
He came to the home from Sidmouth in Devon and he doesn’t have any children.
