HERE they are – your prom king and queen for 2012.

Hundreds of votes were cast in the hunt for the second Daily Echo couple to be crowned from the secondary school prom season, following the publication of our special supplement on July 18.

And the winners are Nikitta Drake from Redbridge Community School and Harry Bicknell from The Romsey School.

The newly-crowned king and queen have each won entertainment vouchers to spend.

They won a public vote after a judging panel picked a boy and a girl from each school to be shortlisted for the prize.

Nikitta, 16, from Kendal Avenue, in Millbrook , who hopes to take up a career as a mechanic in the Army if she passes the tests, said: “I went to the prom in the boot of my brother’s car. I did not know I was up for the competition until I saw my photograph in the Daily Echo and I thought I better had win now because it would be embarrassing it I did not.”

Coincidently, Harry, 15, lives near Nikitta in Millbrook and also hopes to be a mechanic, with a place at Eastleigh College secured. He said: “I am shocked that I have won. I would never have thought I’d be voted for.”
