POLICE carrying out a surveillance operation on a Southampton house followed the occupier to a supermarket car park in London where he was seen chatting to two men and taking possession of a bag, which he put into the boot of his Audi car.

When Tomasz Zarnowski returned to Southampton he was stopped by officers and the bag was found to contain almost half a kilo of cannabis worth up to £4,200 on the street, prosecutor Peter Asteris told the city crown court.

During their observations on the house in Langhorn Road, Portswood , they saw several people knock on the door and stay for only a few minutes.

An examination of bank accounts for Zarnowski and his partner revealed some £70,000 uncredited cash had been accrued over five years.

The property was also equipped with two flat screen televisions.

Zarnowski, 28, admitted possessing cannabis with intent to supply, being concerned in its supply and converting criminal property – cash – into the purchase of the car.

He was jailed for 14 months.

Robert Boulton, defending, said Zarnowski had been dealing with friends to supplement his wages as a labourer.
