DETECTIVES questioning a woman over the deaths of her two sons has been released on police bail.

Hampshire officers spent today quizzing Shelly Adams over the deaths of brothers Bradley, four, and Jayden, two.

The 26-year-old was held on Tuesday in connection with Jayden's death that happened in January last year.

She was rearrested as she returned to answer bail in connection with an ongoing inquiry into Bradley's death that happened in April of the same year.

A police spokesman said: “The 26-year-old Southampton woman, arrested over the of boys, aged two and four, has been bailed, pending further enquiries, until November, 2012.”

The Daily Echo reported last year how the brothers had died three months apart, sparking an investigation by detectives from Hampshire's major crime team.

They initially arrested her in April last year on suspicion of the murder of Bradley, who had died at Southampton General Hospital where he was being treated after being found unconscious at home.

Post-mortem examinations carried out to determine what caused his death, and that of toddler Jayden, have both proved inconclusive.

Ms Adams, who lives on the western side of Southampton, has repeatedly answered bail as police continued their painstaking inquiry into the death of Bradley.

Now it is understood that more evidence has come to light which they want to speak to Ms Adams about, concerning how Jayden died.

The Daily Echo cannot identify where Ms Adams lives for legal reasons, but neighbours told at the time how they were shocked and upset by the deaths of two “gorgeous little boys” so close together.

One person, who spoke at the time but asked not to be named, told how Jayden had suffered convulsions on New Year's Day 2011 and days later he had died.

In April that year Bradley is understood to have been found unconscious at home. He was taken to hospital but failed to respond to treatment and the decision was made to turn off his life support machine when doctors said nothing more could be done for him.

A major police operation was sparked, which included extensive searches of the family home by forensic teams who removed property including a bed, mattress and pillows.

Another neighbour described how the death of the “absolutely gorgeous”

children was “tragic”.

She said: “Jayden was an absolutely beautiful little boy. Bradley was lovely too - and very talkative. To have two little boys die within months of each other is just awful.”

Details of the deaths of both boys have been passed to Southampton's coroner pending an inquest at a future date.
