STAMPS bearing the face of Hampshire’s new Olympic heroine will go on sale this afternoon.

Dani King will appear on a special commemorative stamp alongside Joanna Rowsell and Laura Trott to celebrate their gold medal in the women’s cycling team pursuit yesterday.

The Royal Mail was busy printing the stamps last night, which go on sale from lunchtime today at the Post Office in St John’s Centre, Hedge End.

A fleet of 90 Royal Mail vehicles will deliver the stamps across the UK to over 500 Post Offices to be on sale this lunchtime.

The 21-year-old was part of the British squad that beat USA in yet another world record time and on a day that Team GB won six gold medals.

Dani, a former pupil of Hamble Primary School, took her first step towards the Olympics when she skipped a maths lesson aged 14 to try out for a British Cycling talent event at Hamble Sports College.

She went into full-time cycling straight out of studying her A-levels at Barton Peveril College in Eastleigh.
