Alistair Brownlee's victory in the men's triathlon in Hyde Park brought Britain level with their haul of 19 Olympic gold medals from Beijing.

Britain were also within reaching distance of their overall Beijing medal haul of 47 as Alistair's gold, a bronze for brother Jonny and a silver in sailing 's RS:X class for Nick Dempsey moved them on to 43 (19 gold, 12 silver, 12 bronze) medals.

With more strong medal prospects later today in equestrian dressage and track cycling, the 2008 Games total looked likely to be overhauled by the end of day 11.
