DEVELOPERS have submitted plans to build a new “landmark” office block at the former NXP site in Southampton that will create 300 jobs.

Canmoor Developments said the modern three-storey office block will become a new “landmark gateway” at the entrance to Millbrook Trading Estate as part of a £24m redevelopment of the site, now known as Endeavour Park.

A part-empty four-storey brick office off Second Avenue, currently home to Radio Tactics and the Solent Education business Partnership, will be flattened to make way for the new 27,555 square foot (2,560 sq m) offices, which will have 300 parking spaces.

Canmoor Developments said the new “well designed” office development will result in a “high-quality scheme that is an asset to the area”.

It said it hoped the development would act as a catalyst to attract Business to the area and “inject much needed investment into the local community during this difficult economic period.”

The development has been backed by Hampshire Chamber of Commerce .

The six-acre plot is part of a larger 15-acre site on the Millbrook Technology Campus bought from NXP by Canmoor and international property fund manager Cordea Savills on behalf of the Diageo Pension Fund.

Work on the other nine acres has already begun to demolish the now vacant NXP semiconductor factory, once a major employer in the city, for newindustrial units and warehousing.

Canmoor is offering industrial and warehouse pre-lets from 20,000 to 170,000 square feet.

Defence electronics firm Selex Galileo, which lets some 125,702 square feet of space and employs around 180 staff, will remain on the site under an existing lease.
