A HAMPSHIRE-based mapping agency is on track to raise thousands of pounds for a Southampton campaign.

The Daily Echo-backed Red and White Appeal aims to raise £1.76m to build a dedicated unit at Southampton General Hospital for patients with blood cancer.

Nursling ’s Ordnance Survey has decided to support the charity this year – and has already raised £1,500 to buy the first of six infusion pumps for the unit.

Staff at the agency’s headquarters in Adanac Park organised a pub quiz, eco day, charity golf competition and cake sales to raise the funds.

The fundraising drive towards the £9,000 target is set to continue next week with a lunch-time piano concert.

Fundraising co-ordinator Julie Sellers said: “This is a very good effort from our team and we hope to raise the money needed to supply the next batch of vitally important equipment. I have every faith our staff can rise to the challenge.”

The infusion machines are vital equipment for the unit and will be used to treat patients with various different blood disorders.
