PLANS to battle coastal flooding in Southampton are being drawn up for a meeting tomorrow.

The Institution of Civil Engineers is organising the event in Basingstoke from 5.30pm to 9.30pm.

In June 2010, Southampton City Council commissioned civil engineering firm URS to undertake a coastal flooding risk management strategy for the city.

It addresses the increasing tidal risk threatening the city over the coming century and recommends a range of options.

Coastal engineer Jon Short is the lead speaker at the meeting.
