A DRUNKEN Southampton man sparked a major fire operation after he fell asleep in his flat while cooking.
More than 25 firefighters from across Southampton were called to International Way, Weston , at 2.06am this morning after neighbours in the Rotterdam Towers smelt burning.
On arrival at the high-rise they discovered that a man in a fifth floor flat has dozed off while cooking, having been drinking during the night.
Luckily, he had woken up by the time the crews from Hightown, Redbridge , St Mary’s and Botley arrived and was able to stop the burning before a fire had the chance to start.
Firefighters are now urging residents not to cook while under the influence of alcohol.

Costs less than a solid building if they torch it then no one else's lives are put at risk.
if they're known to be that bad give them the most basic unit possible

this is the trouble... we are interupting the natural selection of the gene pool.... 1000s of years ago this moron would have been eaten by a passing sabre tooth tiger... civilisation is doing our species no favours whatsoever...

"culled", really? honestly? is that how you really feel?
let me ask you a serious question, do you ever look at the comments you make and think "ah maybe i should have thought about that a bit before posting it" or "i wonder how i come across to other people when i post some of these hateful comments"?

I know that they are electric but would not cause a fire.
They have water in them like normal ones.
Perhaps he was cooking his food on the Calfri radiators. I have heard they get very hot.

in the case of cooking this seems to be a regular thing in these tower blocks.
I've suggested trailer parks as if this type of thing happens no one else should have their lives put at risk & the cost of replacing a trailer would be cheaper than repairing a tower block
