RAIL passengers are facing delays after a guard was injured at a Hampshire train station.

British Transport Police officers were called to Bitterne train station in Southampton at 6.10pm.

The South West Trains staff member had an accident and injured his ankle and an ambulance was called, British Transport Police said. It is not believed a crime has taken place.

BTP control room inspector Tim Scott said the trains have been delayed due to the fact there are now insufficient train staff.

Officers are currently at the scene.
