Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted burglary in Alverstoke.

An attempt was made to gain entry to the house but the offender was unsuccessful.

The incident took place between 3pm and 8pm at an address in Fort Road on Friday, October 5.

PC Tara Magnus from Gosport police station said: “There has been a small spate of burglaries in the Alverstoke area where entry is being attempted using tools and other implements found in the garden.

“I’d like to remind homeowners to lock away their tools securely to prevent them from being used to access your homes.

“If you are going to be away from your house while it is dark use timer switches to turn on lights and the TV or radio to give the appearance that someone is at home.

“Please contact the police if you were in the area of Fort Road or Crescent Road at the time of this incident and you have any information that may help us identify those responsible for these burglaries.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact PC Magnus at Gosport police station by phoning 101.
