A HAMPSHIRE businessman has been charged with tax evasion offences estimated at £140,000.

Chukwudi Daniel Nwodo, 28, was charged at Fareham Police Station following an investigation by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

He was arrested in August and was charged yesterday with eighteen alleged tax evasion offences - six for VAT evasion, six for Income Tax evasion and six for National Insurance evasion.

The Nigerian national, who lives in Catisfield Road, Fareham, has been released on bail until October 31 when he is due to appear at Fareham Magistrates' Court.
