HEALTH chiefs insist they are remaining upbeat despite another disappointing turnout at the latest information roadshow giving people the chance to find out about fluoridation.

There was only a very slow trickle of residents visiting South Central Strategic Health Authority’s latest drop-in event in Northam, Southampton – the third of nine during the 14-week public consultation on the controversial plans.

Despite the poor turnout, SHA Consultant in Dental Public Health, Sandra White said those coming through the door were those the events were designed to help.

“Today there have been more people coming in who haven’t made up their minds already,” she said. “This is exactly the sort of community the consultation and the scheme are about.”
