A SOUTHAMPTON opticians will be raising awareness for an alzheimer's charity this month.
Scrivens Opticians and Hearing Care in Bitterne will be offering shoppers homemade cakes and a raffle with optical prizes.
The event is in aid of the company's charity of the year Alzheimer’s Society and will be on Wednesday, September 23 to celebrate World Alzheimer’s Day.
Branch manager, Sarah Erridge, said: “Dementia touches so many families and World Alzheimer’s Day gives us a chance to raise awareness of the charity and the need for funds for research and support.
“Our hearing screenings are free of charge and we want to encourage people over 40 years of age to have regular hearing checks as they do eye tests. So we thought this would be a great way to do both and fundraise for our chosen charity.”
As part of its fundraising activities the branch has also pledged to donate £1 for every hearing screening during 21 to 26 September.
