HAMPSHIRE’S Police and Crime Commissioner has rubbished accusations that he has committed a criminal offence.
Today Hampshire’s Police and Crime Panel will meet in Fareham and will hear that two complaints have been made against Simon Hayes, below, between March and June this year.
One of those has had to be forwarded on to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) by the panel because the complainant accused Mr Hayes of criminal conduct and therefore deemed a “serious complaint”.
Details of the complaint have not been revealed but Mr Hayes said he is “confident” that the IPCC will find no case to answer.
He added: “I consider the complaint to be malicious in nature, factually incorrect, damaging and misleading to the public.
“I share the concerns of fellowPCCs about the cost to the public purse in responding to repeat complainants who clearly have a personal – often political – agenda.”
