Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident that left a pedestrian with serious leg injuries.

A 44-year-old man was taken to hospital after he was hit by a silver-coloured Subaru Impreza that failed to stop after the collision in Hampton Lane, Blackfield.

The accident happened shortly after midnight last Thursday.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who saw the car being driven erratically in the area at the time of the collision.

A 28-year-old Fawley man has been arrested in connection with the incident. He has been bailed until September 29 pending further inquiries.
