AN alleged attempted abduction where a teenager fought off a man who tried to entice her into his van did not take place, police have confirmed.
Hampshire Constabulary today issued an appeal after reports of a driver setting upon an 18-year-old victim while she walked at night on the Isle of Wight.
But after further enquiries officers are satisified that the alleged attempted abudction in Green Lane, Shanklin, at 10pm on Saturday did not take place.
A police spokesman said: "Following further enquiries, we are now satisfied that an alleged attempted abduction on the Isle of Wight did not take place.
"We'd like to reassure the public that the allegation was taken seriously and thoroughly investigated, however we are certain that no offences were committed."
