THE MAN accused of killing mum of five Pennie Davis told police he wouldn't get involved in a murder "done through phones" because he's watched CSI programmes and everyone knows that would be "stupid", a court heard.

In interviews with police, read out to Winchester Crown Court, officers asked Justin Robertson about his regular phone contact with Ben Carr on the day of Pennie's murder.

Robertson said he had watched CSI programmes and that there would be "no way on this earth" he would get involved with a murder "done through phones".

He added: "Everyone knows it would be stupid."

As previously reported, Robertson, 36, is accused of stabbing to death supermarket worker Pennie in a field near Beaulieu on September 2, last year.

He is also accused of conspiring to kill her, along with Ben Carr, 22, and Samantha Maclean, 28.

They all deny the charges.

During the interviews Robertson also told police there was "no way" Samantha Maclean would be involved in a conspiracy to murder someone.

He added she was the "sweetest, innocent girl" who would do anything for anyone.

The court also heard how Robertson described himself to police as a "cheeky chappie", a "career criminal" and a "Del Boy" type, adding "I definitely don't have anything to do with the murder of this woman."

He added: "There's no way on earth I am capable of taking a person's life.

"I haven't conspired with anyone to kill anyone."

He added he wouldn't conspire with Carr to shoot a "rubber duck".

Proceeding.
