A COLLECTION of love letters spanning 20 years are among the sentimental items stolen during a burglary at a Southampton home.

Intruders raided a house in Oakley Road in Southampton and made off with the correspondence and a number of vintage items.

Now police are appealing for witnesses to help trace the letters and belongings which are of “great sentimental value”.

During the break-in the burglars stole a A4 dark grey box file containing love letters spanning his 20 year relationship with the occupant’s girlfriend.

They also took motorcycle rally badges and 200 vintage sixpences.

PC Jess Lawlr of the Western Investigation Team said: “The owner has said that the items themselves were not worth much money, but were of great sentimental value and cannot be replaced.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed anyone acting suspiciously during that time or who may have come across any of the items, either discarded or someone trying to sell them the coins or badges."
