A MAN has been arrested after a four-year-old girl was injured in a hit-and-run crash in Southampton.

Police were called to Denzil Avenue after the incident, which left Aleeza Ahmed with a broken leg.

The collision, which involved a silver Ford Focus, happened at about 7.50pm on Thursday, July 27, and officers recovered the car in Fanshawe Street.

Following the crash her uncle Toqueer Kataria, 26, told the Daily Echo: "We would like the driver to come out and apologise and go to the police and tell them exactly what happened.

"We would like to thank those who gave police all the information and the ambulance for the swift response.

"If anyone has more information please tell police."

A 45-year-old man from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop, and failing to report a collision, and is currently in police custody.
