ROYALTY has dropped in to a new Hampshire retirement village.

Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra, who is the Queen’s cousin and 49th in succession, was at Bishopstoke Park where she unveiled a plaque in the village square.

She also planted a tea tree to commemorate the history of the property, in Church Road, Bishopstoke, and its involvement in The Great Tea Race of 1866.

She was also taken on a guided tour of the retirement village, which will provide more than 170 independent and assisted living apartments for over 65s to live independently while receiving care.

Her Royal Highness, whose brothers are the present Duke of Kent and Prince Michael of Kent, is Anchor’s patron.
