COUNCIL bosses saw a rise in complaints related to the home of Hampshire Cricket last year.

Eastleigh Borough Council’s report reviewing the last year at the Ageas Bowl ground in West End reveals 11 complaints, nine of them related to parking issues, one was about noise and the other from a customer.

This compares to eight complaints the previous year but is down on the 18 in 2013.

Parking issues related to an international match between England and Australia in September.

Contractors responsible for putting out cones failed to do it at the agreed time which led to parking issues in a number of local roads.

The ground appointed a new contractor for the next event and has reviewed coning for next season.

The noise complaint related to a Boyzone concert held at the ground in August, while a visiting spectator complained that the portable seating was uncomfortable and the temporary stands impinged on the walkways, making it difficult for pedestrians.

The ground has agreed to look at the layout for future internationals.

This review goes before councillors on the Hedge End, West End and Botley Local Area Committee at its upcoming meeting on Monday, January 11.
