KAT Driscoll and Nathan Bailey will be hoping to secure gold medals in the trampolining for Team GB this weekend.

But closer to home there’s a new venue allowing people in Hampshire to spring into action.

A new £1.3m trampolining centre has opened in Chandler’s Ford and hundreds of people bounced through the doors on its first day.

When father and son Richard and Ryan Wootton had a go at trampolining they saw the potential in investing in the craze and decided to set up the new venue.

The centre in School Lane has more than 15 Olympic-standard trampolines, as well as free running walls, slam dunk basketball tramps, kids’ and adults’ foam pits, a 15-metre tumble track for backflips and somersaults and a ‘pinball’ angled section for 14 years and above.

Daily Echo:

With disco lights, pumping techno and wall-to-wall docks-inspired graffiti, it’s not the place for a quiet afternoon.

And there is a viewing platform for mums, dads and anyone else wanting to take the weight off their feet. Trampolining boasts health benefits as well as being fun.

Franchisees Ryan and his dad Richard reckon trampolining burns off 68 per cent more calories than running – and although the potential for injury is obvious they make sure there are a minimum of three fully first aid trained members of staff in the main arena at all times.

Ryan said: “When we went to the place in Guildford we just thought it was a brilliant idea.

“Everyone leaves with a smile on their face. It’s just so much fun. I’ve lost a stone and a half since I started trampolining.”

And now the centre is up and running he’s moved from Worthing to Southampton city centre in order to run it. Richard, 45, who also runs nursing homes in Sussex, agreed and said: “We had people queueing for two hours on the first day we opened.”

There is an under-fives section, sessions for parents and toddlers, and the over 25s can jump child-free from 8pm-10pm on Wednesdays.

There’s a DJ party on Friday nights and four dedicated party rooms for kids, who can celebrate birthdays with a dedicated host and goodie bags. The café is run by The Pizza Oven and is open to all, not just those in for a bounce.

To coincide with the Olympic trampolining events there will be a free gift for female trampoliners this August 12 and one for male jumpers on August 13.
