THE date for the first Eastleigh Pride has been changed.

As previously reported, this year Eastleigh is to have its first Pride festival which was set to take place at Leigh Road Recreation Ground on September 15.

But that clashed with the date for the Portsmouth Pride.

Now organiser Eastleigh BID has set a new date for the event – September 8.

Emily Reason of Eastleigh BID said: “Portsmouth Pride announced the same date so we decided to move it so there’s no clash. This is a free family event where we will be celebrating all walks of life.

“We will be celebrating of sexualities, genders, religions, cultures, ages and backgrounds. This is an amazing thing for Eastleigh Town Centre, as we have such a huge community, to have every community, faith, religion and belief together at the event on the day of Eastleigh Pride will be a huge success.”

Ms Reason said that the full programme is expected to be released by the end of July but confirmed that there will be a range of information stalls, entertainment, competitions and live music throughout the day.

Bookings for stall and entertainment are now open.
