A MAN has plunged 15ft in a bell tower while trying to put a church clock forward.
Firefighters were called to rescue the elderly man at St Peter and St Paul's Church, in Osborn Road, Fareham.
The man had fallen from a ladder and was trapped in 'a confined space'.
A crew from Fareham along with the fire service's urban search and rescue team immobilised him on a stretcher and got him out of the bell tower.
It took firefighters nearly three hours to free the man after the alarm was raised at around 8.30pm on Saturday night.
He was then taken to hospital by ambulance. The extent of his injuries is not yet known.
