HUNDREDS of people will don rubber gloves and litter pickers in a bid to clean up Hampshire’s beaches.

Schoolchildren, shop workers and businessmen and women will come together for the day of action.

The litter picking event has been organised by environmental campaigners Gosport and Lee Litteraction to mark National Volunteers Week and World Oceans Day on June 6.

Dozens of businesses and organisations have backed the event, vowing to do their bit on a patch of shoreline between Wicor Lake in Portchester around Fareham and Gosport and onto Lee-on-the-Solent beach.

There is still time to organise or join an event. Visit litter action.org.uk/Gosport-lee-litteraction.
