THIEVES have stolen life-saving medical equipment from a Hampshire volunteer’s car.

They took the vital kit worth more than a thousand pounds from a Community First Responder's vehicle while they were on call.

This happened when the car was parked outside an address in Sydney Road, Gosport last night ready to respond to emergencies in the local area.

Stolen items included a defibrillator, which was paid for by donations from the local community and will now need to be replaced.

Nic Morecroft, Lead Community Responder Manager said “It is unacceptable that this life saving equipment has been stolen, but for it to have been stolen from a volunteer’s vehicle who responds to serious and life threatening emergencies is even worse.

"We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the theft to contact the police as soon as possible.”

Anyone who witnessed the theft, which happened yesterday between 6.45pm and 8.15pm, or has information about it or who is involved is asked to contact 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
