A HORSE has been put down after being caught in farm machinery this morning.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue were called to a farm near Hambledon to help the 29-year-old animal at 7.30am this morning.

A dedicated animal rescue team from Lyndhurst, assisted by crews from Cosham and Wickham, rushed to the scene.

However, after two hours of trying to free the horse, a vet took the decision to euthanise the animal, as it was showing signs of distress.

A spokesperson for the service, said: "The crews were using cutting tools to try to extricate the horse, but unfortunately that decision had to be made."
