THE ELDERLY woman wo died following a car accident near Fareham has been named by police.

Sheila Robertson from Fareham died at Southampton General Hospital with her family at her side on Tuesday afternoon, following the crash atop Portsdown Hill on Friday, August 17.

The 83-year-old had been seriously injured when the green Honda Civic she was travelling in was in collision with a white Ford Fiesta shortly before 4pm, close to the junction of Beverley Grove.

The driver of the Civic, an 84-year-old man from Fareham, sustained serious injuries in the collision and was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham for treatment before being transferred to Southampton General Hospital where he is recovering.

The Fiesta driver, an 18-year-old man from Wickham , was uninjured.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, or anyone who saw either vehicle prior to it, to call Sergeant Shaun Hopkins at Fratton Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting Operation Allerstone.
