Attack victim fighting for life
A HAMPSHIRE man who asked his partying neighbours to be quiet was still fighting for his life in a Southampton hospital last night.
Andrew Toseland is currently in an induced coma at Southampton General Hospital following the beating by the partying gang in Gosport .
The 49-year-old warehouse worker had left his flat in Garland Court, Forton Road, in the early hours of Saturday morning to appeal to revellers to keep the noise down at about 1am.
But witnesses say he was beaten to the ground, then his head was stamped on.
He was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham, but was later transferred to the Wessex Neurological Unit at Southampton.
Eight people have been arrested in connection with the attack on Mr Toseland.
Men aged 27, 25 and 21 are suspected of wounding with intent of causing actual bodily harm, and have been released on bail until October. Men aged 20, 18, 18 and a boy of 16 are currently in custody on suspicion of the same offence. A woman of 22 is also in custody on suspicion of assisting an offender. All suspects are from Gosport.
Anyone with information should call Gosport CID, quoting Operation Bevern, on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

However, I dont think the Police / EHO will ever be able to deal with people having parties. There will never be enough manpower to cope with this, and if the police were given sufficient 'authority' to be able to shut down any party on a whim because one person had complained, it would be a massive infringement on an individual's freedom. Having an occasional party in your own private home is not unreasonable, we just all need to keep things balanced if we live in areas with lots of neighbours.

The people who committed this should all be jailed - there is no excuse for this kind of mindless violence.

When we had capital punishment, too many innocent people died. So the death penalty can never be the solution.

should giv police more power to tell people to trun down there music as they can can not at the mo these people are just scum balls that hurt that man i hope they face the law
Yes maybe people are allowed to have the odd party, but i am sure we are also allowed a proper nights sleep every now and then?
Complaining gets you no where apart from abuse and even more noise. How would you like to try sleeping in the heat with windows all shut ,just so its quieter?

As for the gang? yet another example of senseless thug violence. Let's hope the law properly sees justice served.

The Police via officers and PSCO's, and the local enviromental health dept, obviously require more staff on board at night, so the people can make a complaint, and the forces enpowered to do something WILL actually arrive and deal with it,, without releasing details as to who complained...
