STUDENTS from the Open University will visit Thornhill this month following the filming of an Introduction to Social Care course video on the estate a few years ago.

During the production University students filmed various community activities taking place, including the Thornhill Health and Wellbeing Project, the netball team, Thornhill Tea Dance and Crafty Crafters, with various staff, volunteers and local residents also interviewed.

Gwyneth Baker, a Community Health Development Officer for the Thornhill Health and Wellbeing Project, said: “Each term I speak to the students studying the Introduction to Social Care course in the Open University Forum, answering any questions they may have about my project or other developments happening in Thornhill. Some of the students contacted me recently to ask if they were able to come and visit Thornhill.

“We will arrange for them to meet with residents who have taken part in the DVD, give them a tour of the estate, and allow time for a question and answer session.”

The visit will take place on Friday 23 April and will involve eight Open University students.
