Drivers on one of Hampshire’s busiest commuter routes were faced major delays this morning after two separate crashes.
The accidents happened within a mile of each other on either side of the A31 across the New Forest.
The first crash happened just before 5.30am, when a white van went into the central reservation just before the Burley turn off.
Emergency services were on the scene trying to recover the vehicle which was blocking the outside lane on the eastbound carriageway.
Fire crews from Redbridge were called into action to help free the male driver from the van.
He was then taken to Poole Hospital by South Central Ambulance Service. The extent of his injuries are not known at this stage.
The second accident happened on the westbound side of the road when one car crashed blocking the inside lane at the bottom of Poulner Hill near Ringwood.
That incident was cleared by 8am.
